Byung-Suk Chung is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in shipping, shipbuilding, insurance and international trade and related international arbitration & cross border litigation.

Mr. Chung has handled numerous maritime law cases, insurance and reinsurance disputes, domestic and cross-border litigation, and arbitrations involving international trade disputes.

Mr. Chung has been an arbitrator on the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board since 1994 and the mediator of Seoul Central District Court since 1998. He has served as President of Korea Maritime Law Association (2012-2014) and has been serving as the President of the Korean Private International Law Association since 2015. Mr. Chung is teaching maritime law at Seoul National University Law School and Korea University Law School as adjunct professor.

Mr. Chung has authored various publications, including “Shipping & International Trade Law Korea Chapter” (Thomson Reuters). He has been consistently recognized as a “Leading” attorney by Chambers Asia Pacific, The Legal 500 and Asialaw Profiles.

Mr. Chung received an LL.M. from University College London in 1987 and an LL.B. from the College of Law, Seoul National University in 1977. He also attended the Graduate School of Law, Seoul National University in 1980 and the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 1980.
