Setyawati Fitrianggraeni
Managing Partner

Setyawati Fitrianggraeni (Fitri) is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution
(AIADR). Since 2025, she has been listed on the panel of the Singapore
Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA). She is open to appointments as
tribunal secretary, co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator.

Her maritime law journey began with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Maritime
Law from University College London, followed by her role at a leading
Freight, Demurrage and Defence (FD&D) Club headquartered in Oslo, where
she was based in the Singapore office. She also completed a Principles of
Shipping Operations and Practices Course hosted by the Singapore Shipping
Association (SSA). Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Maritime Law and
Policy at the World Maritime University (a specialized agency under the
International Maritime Organization, United Nations). This academic pursuit
uniquely positions her at the intersection of international maritime
governance, academic research, and practical legal strategy.

Over the past 18 years, Fitri has acted as counsel in complex arbitration and
litigation cases across Southeast Asia, particularly those involving
Indonesian parties, in sectors including energy and construction. She is fluent
in English and Bahasa Indonesia and has experience working on Singapore-
seated arbitrations and matters with an Indonesian nexus. In the context of
maritime law, her focus includes charter party disputes, shipbuilding
contracts, marine insurance, and cross-border commercial agreements.
Beyond her dispute resolution practice, she is a passionate advocate for
maritime safety and legal governance. She founded Gerakan Ingat Selamat
Layar Indonesia (GISLI), an initiative promoting safety awareness and
regulatory compliance among Indonesian fisherfolks in collaboration with
Indonesian Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries.

Fitri also actively contributes to legal capacity-building through her role as a
Private Law Assistant Professor at her alma mater University of Indonesia.
She is also actively involved in the region through teaching, writing, and
speaking engagements with a focus on dispute resolution, the ocean-maritime law nexus, and legal harmonization. She regularly speaks at conferences and contributes to academic and policy-oriented publications.
