Vivian is a Senior Partner at Allen & Gledhill LLP specializing in maritime and shipping law, international trade and finance and marine insurance.

Vivian has been in active practice since she was called to the bar in 1981 and handles a full spectrum of maritime, shipping and trade related matters.

She has acted as co-arbitrator and counsel in numerous cases and has handled many notable cases in Singapore including complex multi-jurisdictional and cross border disputes including trade financing disputes in excess of US$300million, oil pollution claims in excess of US$120million, collision claims in excess of US$150million, bill of lading disputes in excess of US$90million and many other disputes involving charterparties, international trade, oil and gas, insolvency and sale, purchase, construction and repairs of ships and oil rigs.

In 2019, she was among the inaugural batch of select practitioners to be recognized as a Senior Accredited Specialist in Maritime and Shipping Law by the Singapore Academy of Law.

She has been consistently ranked as a leading shipping and admiralty practitioner in a numerous publications including Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific Asialaw Leading Lawyers, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Who’s Who Legal Singapore.

She has also won numerous awards, including Best Lawyer in Shipping at the Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Asia Women in Business Law Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015, Winner of the Shipping and Transport category for Singapore in the Client Choice Awards in 2015, and recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a Litigation Star in Shipping, Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

In 2020, she was inducted into The Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals who are at the pinnacle of the profession and have received constant praise from their clients for continued excellence. She was also named Lawyer of the Year for Shipping at the Who’s Who Legal Awards in 2020.
