Shuji Yamaguchi is an experienced lawyer and arbitrator. He is an expert of Commercial Code and Transport and Maritime Law. His practice area covers Shipping, Insurance, International Trade and Aviation, etc.

Shuji was qualified in Japan in 1982. He is an arbitrator of Tokyo Maritime Arbitration Commission and Japan Commercial Arbitration Association. He was a member of counsellors for Ministry of Justice to amend Commercial Code (Transport and Maritime Law).  He acted as the chair of Maritime Committee of Inter-Pacific Bar Association. He handles many varieties of maritime, insurance, aviation, international trade, ship building cases including bill of lading, charterparty, sea waybill, airway bill cases. He acted as a director and auditor of listed companies. He has deep knowledge and experiences of the cases related to company law, competition law, insolvency law as well.

His paper “The Special Provisions of Conflict of Laws in Arbitration Law” is introduced in “Japanese Year Book of Private International Law No.20”.

Shuji is a member of Maritime Law Association, International Private Law Association, Aviation Law Association and General Average Adjusters Association. He acts as one of the most experienced arbitrators of Tokyo Maritime Arbitration Commission, Japan Commercial Arbitration Association and ad hoc arbitrations.
