Christopher Patrick Hancock, QC
Barrister
Christopher was called to the Bar in 1983 and took silk in 2000, and has had an extensive shipping practice throughout his career. He has appeared as advocate in several hundred maritime arbitrations in London and elsewhere around the world, and has sat as an arbitrator on a number of occasions over the last ten years. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is on the Panel of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration. 

Christopher was taken on as a tenant at 3 Essex Court (now 20 Essex Street) in 1985 and took silk in 2000. He sits as a Recorder and is a Deputy High Court judge. He has an extensive and varied commercial practice including shipping, international trade, insurance and reinsurance, energy and natural resources, arbitration and general commercial work. He was Chairman of COMBAR (the Commercial Bar Association) between 2009 and 2011, having previously chaired its North American Committee (2005-2007) and been Vice Chair from 2007-2009. He now sits on the International Practice Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a CEDR qualified mediator.
