I am in practice as an independent arbitrator and counsel in various common law jurisdictions, including Singapore, Australia, and the UK. I have specialised (inter alia) in maritime disputes throughout that time, with particular reference to charterparty disputes, and shipbuilding contracts. I have been involved in very heavy arbitrations over that period, both as arbitrator and counsel, dealing with a variety of vessel types (ferries, bulk carriers, warships, pipe layers, LPSOs, drilling rigs and production platforms), giving rise to a range of issues from freight payment and cargo damage, to rescission/repudiation fights (as the freight market moves), involving both charterparty and shipbuilding cases. I have also had a long history of arbitral involvement in oil and gas disputes (mostly upstream) involving production sharing contracts in fields from North Sea, West Africa, and Central Asia, to Indonesia. I have familiarity with GAFTA, and similar commodity disputes.
My family background is Italian, and I have acted for Italian shipowners over the years. I speak Italian well.
Given that I have a multicentred practice, with family both in Australia and Europe, I spend about a third of my year (in total) in South Asia, together with a third in Australia, and the rest in Europe. I have been coming to Singapore, for professional and personal reasons for over 30 years.
I am a holder of a British passport, and no other.
