Capt Venkat started his shipping career in 1978 and sailed on board a variety of foreign-going vessels and ultimately stepped ashore in 1990 as an experienced Master Mariner. He has sailed on general cargo, bulk, container, and tanker vessels during his sea going career. 

He ultimately stepped ashore in 1990 specializing in commercial shipping and commodity trading especially in the trading and transportation of raw and finished dry and liquid fertilizers. He has extensive hands-on experience covering the full range of commercial shipping activities such as ship owning and operating, supply chain logistics, commodity trading, sale & purchase, and joint ventures especially in his current role as the founder of a ship owning and operating company. He has advised various clients in drafting commodity contracts and resolving related disputes due to his extensive knowledge of commodity contracts and charterparties.
