Peter Shelford is experienced in all aspects of litigation and international arbitration with particular emphasis on insurance, reinsurance and construction.
His principal areas of practice are commercial litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on insurance and reinsurance, international trade, and shipping disputes and advice. Peter is experienced in all aspects of shipping and marine insurance, including cargo claims, salvage and general average, charterparties, multi modal transport, hull and cargo insurance and reinsurance policy advice, off-shore construction, and shipbuilding contractual advice and disputes.
Peter has acted for claimants and respondents in numerous arbitrations and attended arbitration hearings, in England, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, PRC, Sweden and Moscow, being both solicitor and counsel of record. He has been involved in arbitrations conducted pursuant to the following Rules/under the auspices of the following Institutions:
LMAA; SIAC; TAI; HKIAC; ICC; GAFTA; SHALTA; Uncitral; KLRCA and SMA (New York).
Peter has also handled a number of mediations, including in London, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.
